Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium at Greenmead Primary School 2015-16

Pupil Premium is additional government funding which targets children on Free School Meals or who are Looked After Children or children of armed forces personnel.  It is given in order to improve their attainment and ‘narrow the gap’ with other children at Greenmead School.  In the financial year 2015-16 the amount of pupil premium for each pupil was £1,320 and at Greenmead we have 16 eligible children.  This gives a total funding of £21,120.

At Greenmead we have looked carefully at this group of children and chosen to spend the majority of the money on projects which will enhance their experience at this school.  Other children will also benefit from these projects.

Extended School Parental Support

This directly helps the pupils on Free School Meals access our after school club and Easter and Summer Scheme provision.  The children benefit from interacting with their school friends in a relaxed and social atmosphere which focuses on enjoyable fun play activities which are devised to meet their very individual needs.

Occupational Therapy One to One Sensory Integration

We are continuing to use the funding to support this initiative.  An experienced Occupational Therapist has been employed one day per week to work mostly with the targeted pupils.  Many of the children at Greenmead can benefit from this therapeutic intervention.  They have difficulty in integrating and making use of sensory information.  These difficulties can change how they respond to their own body, the environment and how they interact with it and the others around them.  The therapist is aiming to help the child re-organise or re-process sensory information to improve their responses to world around them.

Toy and Equipment Library

This is a continuing project which will provide toys and other resources for parents to borrow so they can play with their children outside school.  They can try out toys before buying their own, or just be able to have a toy for half a term and then return it and try a new one!  Toys that are suitable for the children at Greenmead can be very expensive and difficult to find.  It is proposed that other IT equipment will be purchased this year to enhance the resources available.

What we spent Pupil Premium on last year and its impact
In the financial year 2014-15 the amount pf pupil premium for each pupil was £1300 and at Greenmead we had 16 eligible children. This gave a total funding of £20,800.

Development of Toy and Equipment Library

This was a new project which provided toys and other resources for parents to borrow so they can play with their children outside school.  They could try out toys before buying their own, or just be able to have a toy for half a term and then return it and try a new one!  Toys that are suitable for the children at Greenmead can be very expensive and difficult to find.

Targeted IT Equipment

Laptops for the children to use in lesson time which means they can work independently and improve their IT skills and maximise their learning.
